What Made Gentreo Prominent in 2025
In 2025, Gentreo stood out by aligning its product, distribution, and category positioning around how families actually experience major life events.
Gentreo was built as what the founder Renee Fry calls a Life Milestone Company, organized around life events rather than one-time legal documents. “We don’t nickel and dime families or ask them to choose documents before they know what they’ll need,” she says.
For one price, families get everything, from a state-specific will and health care proxy to living trusts and even pet-related documents, with plans that evolve as life changes. This model drives engagement, with Gentreo achieving a 93% retention rate over three years, outperforming most legal tech and subscription businesses.
The Founder’s Motivation
The motivation is personal. “Our parents paid $10,000 to create their estate plan,” Renee says. “We didn’t want anyone else to have to go through that.”
Today, nearly 80% of people make critical decisions during moments of crisis, with missing information, outdated plans, or no plan at all. “We built Gentreo to help remove confusion and stress from moments when people need clarity the most.”

The Change Gentreo is Trying to Create
If Gentreo succeeds, estate and life planning becomes a normal, ongoing part of adulthood. The goal is fewer family conflicts, less financial loss, and less emotional cleanup across generations. Even the name Gentreo nods to that long view: three generations, planned for.
What Drove Growth This Year
This year’s progress came from sharpening focus on life inflection points, strengthening the product foundation and compliance readiness, and validating engagement through trusted B2B2C partnerships.
“Trust matters enormously in this space,” Renee notes. Gentreo now partners with more than 100 banks and credit unions, reaching families through institutions they already rely on.
The Biggest Breakthrough
The company’s biggest breakthrough was fully defining and proving the Life Milestone category itself. ‘People care about what is going on in their lives and we tie directly to those events now’, Renee says.

What’s Next
Looking ahead, the focus is scale: raising capital, deepening strategic partnerships, and making Gentreo the default platform people turn to at every major life event. “We want to make sure we focus on being the Life Milestone Company and offering products to be there for our members when they need us most,” Renee says.
